Quote from: Grahame on April 26, 2022, 08:44:41 am1645 - Siege of Chester & Battle of Rowton Heath. This was the king's last throw of the dice. The attempt to raise the siege has resulted in the death of the Royalist Lord General and the decimation of his field army. The Northern Horse swept aside the local militia and Lancashire clubmen where they had gathered on the heath. The attempt of the garrison to link up with the the Royalist army was too little too late as they had to fend off an intercepting force from the besiegers. The naval landing parties proved their worth on land as they were supported by dragoons and fought their way through the enclosures along the road. It was during this hedge to hedge fighting that the Royalist Lord General fell at the head of his men. The writing is now on the wall and Chester will be shortly be forced to submit - blockaded by sea and surrounded on land it is only a matter of time.....The results are as follows:Royalists scored 22 honour. Parliamentarians scored 77 honour. The totals across the whole campaign are King 339 Parliament 396 with Carl having the highest individual score overall for the King and Andy Mellor for Parliament. Thanks again to all those taking part.Grahame
