St. John's closure in July

St. John's have been in touch to say that the venue will be closed for decorating for the first half of July for redecorating.

After a chat with the committee, the likely plan is that for those three Mondays (1st, 8th, 15th, hopefully not the 22nd) we will be using Mill House Studios (i.e. my studio/workshop on Lincoln Road, Werrington). Gary has also offered to run a game at his place in Bretton for the first two Mondays.

Things that arise from this

- We will limited to 6 or at most 7 6'x4' tables (having counted 0.5m carpet tiles :D)
- As such we will probably pause all campaigns for July.
- There is no onsite parking - you'll need to park on the street
- We will have to keep the outside noise down - it's a residential area, the studio backs on to next door's patio, and the exit is right under another neighbour's bedroom window
- We *should* have the club scenery, but we will probably have to arrange to remove it from St. John's the weekend before and return it afterwards.

More details to come.

If there's a couple of good multi-player games we should fit in fine. I can run a Full Thrust multi-player, this is an ideal one because the combination of written movement orders and the house rule for simultaneous firing (as used in the campaign) means we can have a lot of players without the game slowing down.

I could also run Mordheim as normal as if I run a multi player game I can fit the entire campaign on a single 6X4 table. This is assuming the scenery is all easily available.

I should be free to help with the scenery moves.

Do you have enough chairs? If not I have 4 folding chairs I can bring.

The Saga Campaign will take a pause, but I do need one catch up game, sometime in July.
Games Played (Armies): WAB + WaC (IER Roman, Early Saxons and variants, Normans), WFB (Empire), 40K (Spacemarines), Uncharted Seas (Empire, Shroud Mages), WAB English Civil War (English!), Operation Squad (British) SAGA (Normans, Jomsvikings), Mordheim, Wings of War/Glory WWI, Dreadball, Chain of Command (British), Frostgrave, Sails of Glory and many others!!

Agree with pausing campaigns during July. Multiplayer games is the way to go - eg three games with different periods/scales/genres. It is also an excellent opportunity to play test the games we are putting on at Hereward so I'll volunteer to run 'Kill Cromwell' as a multiplayer game/playtest on the third Monday in July rather than PL campaign.

Happy to run some more Freefire participation games. Also Rumbleslam, haven't played for a while. Both are (or can be) multiplayer and neither takes up too much room.
Current games (and armies) played: Gaslands, Direwolf Rampant, Frostgrave, Bolt Action & Operation Squad (Desert Rats, Communist Chinese, Russians, partisans, Americans, Finns, Italian Paras), In Her Majesty's Name, Judge Dredd Miniatures, Dreadball, Deadzone, Mobile Frame Zero, Uncharted Seas (Orcs), Necromunda (Pit Slaves, Escher), Wings of War (WWI and WWII), Mordheim, Alien vs Predator, Warpath

Current Projects: Brotherhood Without Banners, Jomsvikings, the Blaine Legion, Gaslands vehicles, WWII Danish

Chris Davies

Maybe go for more skirmish games, sharing tables (eg new bolt action rules)?

All sounds good.

We are somewhat light on chairs (as the ones we use for committee meetings are our kitchen chairs).

Can I also emphasise that given the lack of space, if you don't book in advance to RUN a game, you won't get a table... (the people I'm talking to know who they are :D :D)

Mike, can I book a table for 01/07/2019 for Shawn and I to play a Saga catch-up game.

Many thanks.

We will be clearing out the club cupboards to move to Mike's on Wednesday June 26th from about 6:30pm.

Reuben is hiring a van: we will need folks to load EVERYTHING from the club cupboards into the van at St. Johns' from 6:30, and then to help unload at Mike's once done. Please sign up below if willing to assist.

Reminder: please park on Lincoln Road at Mike's, not Sharma Leas.

We will provisionally be returning everything by a reverse of the process on the weekend of 20/21 July. As I (Mike) am in the US, Colin will be organising the exact details of this, and be the point of contact for St. Johns in the event everything goes Pete Tong at their end.
