Hi Grahame,

I have purchased some Airfix 1:72 Commando test figures off ebay. I'm not looking forward to painting them...they look tiny  :cheesy:

Martin, i'm going 20mm for WW2 and have tried Airfix infantry before. They're awful to paint due to the plastic they're made of. Much better are Valiant and Caesar Miniatures (and others).

I have memories that one of the best tricks for getting Airfix plastic to take paint is to paint a coat of PVA on them first.

That and a good wash and dry. Being sofft plastic they will always be inferior, and they're not particularly well detailed compared to more modern models.

OK, thanks guys. They were only a couple of quid so it's no biggie. It'll be interesting to see the scale (small) of the chllenge of painting them.

Got some commandos too! Happy to take on painting them - the airfix set comes with canoes. Have replied to the model club and booked a 6x4 table.

With commandoes it is notoriously difficult to paint their pants
