Title: Campaign 2019 11th – 12th May 2019
Post by: Mike Whitaker on March 06, 2019, 07:18:23 pm
usual venue - Middleton Hall, CentreMK. Usually great fun and they love us.

Taking the HYW Game:

Current attendees:

Sat: Grahame (am), Dan (pm), Adie, Rob, (Mike?)
Sun: Mike, Dan, (Rob?)

Could definitely use someone else for the Sunday if free. I'm happy to go fetch Rob from Bourne but I'd rather not then drive to MK as well from choice :D

I'll be there for at least one day maybe both.

First thoughts are:

1) The "French Invasion of England by Balloon". I know we've done it there before but it went down very well and is very noticeable.

2) The "100 years War - Siege game" we put on at The Leeds Armoury. It's easy to pick up even for a non-gamer, it looks good (it's in 54mm) and is a good demonstration that wargaming does not need to cost a fortune - IIRC both armies, the terrain and everything else cost less than £40?

3) "Battles of Lake Tanganyika". It's 3 games in one with some great stories, it looks good and the rules are simple enough for non-gamers to pick up easily.

I can be there on the 12th, and *maybe* the 11th (I am gigging the night before and likely to be wiped and have a car needing unloading before I can go anywhere...)

What time does Campaign MK start & finish? (Center MK's opening times are- Sat 9am - 7pm, Sun 11am - 5pm)

Looks like we're short on people on the Saturday so I'll do that afternoon.

Who has the rules and can whoever has them post a copy as I could do with a reread before the day.

Grahame: If you're there for the morning I can be there to help set up, then I'll take Joshua round in the morning and run the game in the afternoon. Ok?

They're the core rules from Don Featherstone's "Skirmish Wargaming" with some minor mods for activation. Somewhere I have a 1 page QRS which I will dig out.

I'm available either or both days, but would need transport. And yes, I'm aware I'm in the wrong direction for most people.

I should be able to help with this on the Saturday and provide transport for Rob.

Doors open 8ish, show proper starts at 10am.

From past experience, you want to park here - https://goo.gl/maps/Sps2boh98C55K1bC7 - or as close to as you can.

We are table 5 on http://mkws.org.uk/index.php?id=74

So if the show starts at 10 what time do we need to be there to setup tomorrow?

Also what are the times for Sunday?

Grahame is aiming to be there between 8:30 and 9 on Sat.

My plan is to pick Rob up at 8:15 and meet back at my place for 8:35 (if you're ok parking there and saving me another 20 mins of detour).

Grahame: I'll meet you just before 9.

Mike: Fine to meet at yours so long as I can park round the back.

I'm writing this in the hope that Mike sees it today and can do something about it before tomorrow...

We need more body wound markers. It's the most common injury result and the one with the fewest counters. Light and serious.

Don't have many discs of that size left, but I'll see what I can do.

EDIT: scavenged up half a dozen

Thanks to everyone who came and lent a hand. Quite a quiet show, but we did get to both do some plotting and scheming for next year's big game and recruit a good few games for Hereward.
